FEATURE OF THE MONTH

Welcome to the APOG Junior Members Website! This site has been designed to cater to the needs of obstetrics and gynecology residents across Canada . This includes educational objectives such as Royal College and CREOG information, but we also hope to fulfill some personal needs as well with information on resident well-being, and financial tips. We also hope to stimulate your interest and provoke discussion with our “Feature of the Month” section, which will highlight a special interest from a resident member each month.

This year the SOGC Junior Members Committee will continue to work towards promoting resident awareness, resident well-being, and resident participation. We firstly need to acknowledge last year's Chair and Vice-Chair Dr. Sony Singh (UWO) and Dr. Michelle Suga Rak (Memorial) for the fantastic work which was accomplished last year. The first step in this process has been the creation of this website to increase resident communication and access to important programs and ideas from across the country. We also continue to work towards increasing resident involvement in the Association of Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (APOG). Last year, great strides were made to increase the interaction between Junior Members and the Junior Members Committee and APOG.

The SOGC Junior Members Committee consists of two resident representatives from each university across Canada . This Committee is our opportunity to participate and contribute to our specialty on a national level. One of last year's projects was the creation of a Fellowship Manual which lists a description and contact information for all available Canadian fellowships. There are many opportunities for Junior Members to be involved in various regional and national committees and be heard about issues affecting medical students, residents, and your future as an Ob/Gyn. So, if you are interested, talk to your universities' resident rep, or even become a resident rep yourself!

Stay tuned to this site for updates through the year about educational news, upcoming meetings, and interesting articles from residents across Canada !
